"Steal Like an Artist" Article Review

The premise of the book "Steal Like an Artist" is about how nothing is ever "original" and that good artists take from ideas they like and put it into their own work. They gather influences, keep what they like in a file, and search for more. Kleon asserts that anyone should go out and search for ideas and influences to be like an artist. He quotes writers and celebrities, gives a small anecdote about his mother, and encourages the reader with examples on what they could do to "steal" ideas.

The strengths of the article are the clearly expressed ideas and how each idea is backed up with concise evidence. Kleon's general conclusion is to go out and gather ideas that one could apply to their work. The main points are significant as they can pertain to anyone, not just those who are in a creative industry. The article applies to me, as a web designer, to go out and search other websites to find inspiration. Overall, this is a good article and it promotes venturing out into the world.
